The Mornington Swing & Blues Affaire[B][I]
June 11 - 14
Mornington, situated only 45 minutes from Melbourne city on the Mornington Peninsula is playing host to some HUGE swing events.
Friday 11th June - The Black-Tie Ball @ the Morning Star Estate
Featuring 3 big bands, James Allen and the Mornington Big Band, also featuring Peta Hill. The Let's Dance Big Band, and the Moonee Valley Drifters.
The evening will also feature performances from the Swing Patrol dancers.
Cost: $85 inlcudes 3 course a la carte meal and drinks and entertainment.
Saturday 12th June - The Racecourse Ball @ Mornington Race Course.
Featuring 3 awesome swing bands, the Feral Swing Katz, Out for the Count and The Dirty Boogie.
Includes more dance performances by the Ministry of Swing dancers.
Cost: $50 if no other festival ticket has been purchased, or $35 if a previous ticket is held. Cost includes dinner and show.

The latest news on MAYFIELD'S is that there has been a reprieve as it did not sell at auction - and therefore will remain a live music venue, at least for the time being.
And so we have booked another three dates at
MAYFIELD'S
103 Smith St, Collingwood
on
SATURDAY 19 JUNE, 10 JULY and 24 JULY
8:00 - 11:00pm
Cover Charge $10 / $6 concession

Shuffle Club's last NIGHTLY gig at the Palace front bar tonight. Free entry & free parking. Come & dance on carpet!

i meant to add this ages ago, but forgot.
looking for a swinging jazz band gig in melbourne/sydney/adelaide? then this is the resource for you.
the Jazz Scene website is super useful. it has up to date information on jazz gigs in melbourne, as well as contact phone numbers for venues and websites for bands. i regularly raid it for my own site.
it's an inspiring read: check out victoria's gig guide. look: swinging jazz every night of the week (except monday, really). and i can think of a few that aren't listed here. aren't we the luckiest kids in the whole world?
